Oral 2h 30m · Flight 1h 36m
Would recommendCheckride was arranged through my school. Oral went smoothly; we spent the first stint discussing privileges and limitations, which was very scenario-based. He accepted the answer "contact the FSDO or retain an aviation attorney" when the waters of legality became muddled. Systems was very straightforward, with no trick questions. We talked about weather for a fair amount of time but did not dive into much aerodynamics or principles of flight-related discussions. I preflighted the plane without him present, and we departed. The flight went smoothly, doing maneuvers in the Phoenix southwest practice areas. Landings were done at A39, an airport I had not been to before. He gave some grace on landing distances if technique was good and you were talking through the choices you were making and your sight picture. If he doesn't say you missed your point, just continue flying the airplane. Overall, he stuck to his POA for the ground; if you gave straight answers, he didn't dig. In the plane, he was pushing things along with a moderately quick pace.
